Basement, Sep 2016

Renovations by Overmeyer turned this small basement into a modern entertainment space. From demolition to finishing work, this 300+ square foot project was completed in just under three weeks! It started with the removal of wood panelling, foam ceiling tile and carpet. Under the carpet was a linoleum floor that needed to be scraped up and behind the wood panelling was styrofoam insulation that was removed. The drop ceiling consumed about an inch of space with all of the wood strapping which was also removed. The fireplace mantel, tile and drywall was removed to reveal metal studs. All of the 2x3 wood studs on the outer walls were removed and replaced with proper 2x4 wood studs, insulation, vapour barrier electrical outlets prior to being finished with drywall and paint. LED pot lights attached to dimmers were installed in the new smooth ceilings. A space for a future wall mounted TV was installed along with four 4K HDMI connections, Coax and power. Carpet was installed throughout including the stairs. Finally, the fireplace area was studded with wood studs to support the new wrap around stone veneer. On both sides of the fireplace custom cabinetry was installed with upper doors that conceal the electrical panel.
