This client was looking for a complete basement renovation that included an open concept living space, bedroom and three piece bathroom. We began by framing the new walls to define the various rooms, and added electrical outlets before finishing with drywall and paint. LED pot lights were installed in the new, smooth ceilings. The electrical panel was concealed using a regular door, allowing for easy access. An electrical outlet and coax cable were placed above the fireplace for a future wall mounted TV, along with a custom floating mantle. 15mm laminate flooring was installed on a premium underlay and vapour barrier, and the stairs which were previously unfinished required capping with oak and then staining to match the new floor colour. A new custom fitted railing was needed in order to keep the open concept design throughout the main room. Finally, to install the three piece bathroom, the concrete slab needed to be dug up to move drain pipes for the shower. An acrylic shower stall, toilet, and vanity with granite counter and undermount sink were used to finish the bathroom.
